Ayurveda gained significant presence in Kerala in the 13 th century. The system developed in the Malabar region of Kerala especially along the Coast of Nila River. The Kerala tradition also takes into its stride the ethnic treatment practices like Vishachikitsa, Physiotherapeutic methods of the Martial Art form Kalaripayattu, and further enriched and developed them into comprehensive and credible treatment practices.
